Troy Deeney shares his prediction ahead of the North London derby

Troy Deeney has backed Arsenal to pull off a major upset against Tottenham in the North London Derby on Sunday.

While Spurs come into the game high on confidence, sitting at the summit of the Premier League, Arsenal are languishing in 14th place in the table.

Mikel Arteta’s side have won just once in their last six league matches, losing four of them, scoring just two goals in the process.

The Spaniard is under tremendous pressure to produce a result, with some fans already calling for his head, less than a year after he took charge of the club.

Spurs meanwhile have conceded just once in their last five league matches, winning four and drawing one.

While all the signs point to a Tottenham win, Deeney believes this is just the sort of game in which the Gunners can pull off an upset.

The Watford striker told talkSPORT: “Everything is saying Spurs but Arsenal do this… they will get a result.

“Especially in the derby, they will get a result. So I am going to go 2-1 Arsenal.”

However, Deeney admitted that he does not foresee Arsenal finishing in the top four this season.

He said: “I look at it and say, we are talking about top four for Arsenal. I never thought they would do that.

“I look at Everton and the way they spent, I look at Wolves and the way they are going, I look at Leicester and their squad – they’ve got people who can come off the bench and impact the game better than Arsenal, at this moment in time.”
