Troy Parrott names three players who helped him settle in at Tottenham

Troy Parrott has praised Ben Davies and former Tottenham teammates Dele Alli and Serge Aurier for helping him settle into the club’s first-team environment.

Parrott has already embarked on a mixed journey during his young career after signing his first professional contract with Spurs as a 17-year-old in February 2019.

Currently enjoying a successful loan spell with MK Dons, the Republic of Ireland international has been forced to put last season’s difficult moves to Millwall and Ipswich behind him, which saw him score just twice in 32 appearances (Transfermarkt).

Parrott’s current success comes after he was once one of only two recognised strikers at Tottenham alongside Harry Kane, much like Dane Scarlett is now in North London.

The quick transition into the first-team at Spurs will have likely been a daunting experience for Parrott, but it was made easier by three senior players in the squad at the time according to the young forward.

Parrott singled out Welsh defender Davies as someone who helped him settle into the big time while also naming the now-departed Alli and Aurier as individuals that made him feel welcome.

He told The Athletic: “As a young kid you watch these players and think, ‘Wow’, and then you’re next to them and it’s a bit crazy. But as you train more and more you get to know them and they’re just really good people — more friends than anything.

“Serge Aurier helped me quite a bit. He was always talking to me and making sure I was doing things properly. A lot of jokes as well, but more importantly the on-pitch stuff — where I should be, making sure I was giving my best every day.

“Ben Davies is good as well, and Dele Alli is a really close friend. He’s also one that helped me when I went up into the first team, just as someone I could talk to.

“It’s a bit nerve-wracking, and he was really good with that. If I was standing on my own he’d come and talk to me.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Parrott had a tricky start to his senior career at Spurs and that wasn’t his fault really because he was too young to be called upon.

He will have needed a bit of warmth from some figures in the Spurs dressing room to help him settle down into the first team, and it is good that a handful were around to do that.
