Turkish side reveal they are in talks over deal for player currently at Tottenham

Galatasaray have revealed on Twitter that they are in discussions with Benfica over a loan deal for Gedson Fernandes.

The midfielder joined Tottenham Hotspur on an 18 month loan deal from the Portuguese giants in January 2019 which included an option to make the deal permanent for £42.7million with the North Londoners having fended off interest from rivals Chelsea (Sky Sports).

The 22-year-old has struggled for game time under Jose Mourinho this season having only made an appearance apiece in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup while being left out of the 25-man Europa League squad (transfermarkt).

Mourinho admitted in November that he was open to the prospect of Benfica terminating the loan deal early for the benefit of Fernandes (The Sun).

The Spurs head coach tried him in a right back role over the summer against Ipswich, and praised his performance afterwards (Football.London).

It now appears that the Portuguese Under-21 international will see his loan deal at Spurs terminated before the window closes tomorrow and spend the rest of the season in Turkey.
