Some Spurs fans were overjoyed with Tottenham’s 4-0 demolition of Burnley this afternoon and are hopeful that the result could be the turning point that sees the North Londoners make a late charge for a top-four finish.
Tottenham were in desperate need of three points coming into today’s match, having lost five of their last six Premier League games.
It was clear that the Spurs stars went out with a point to prove as they started the game on the front foot and took the match to the Clarets.
The home side raced into an early lead with Gareth Bale finding the back of the net with a little over a minute of the game gone.
The result was essentially a foregone conclusion at around the half-hour mark, with Spurs racing into a 3-0 goal lead owing to strikers from Harry Kane and Lucas Moura.
Bale produced another fantastic finish after the interval to put the icing on the cake for Jose Mourinho’s men.
Some Spurs fans were over the moon to see Bale coming back into form at a crucial point of the season while many also praised Davinson Sanchez for a solid display at the back.
Superb result! Goals and a clean sheet! Perfect day at the office! Really hope Hojbjerg’s ok! Only he could run off ligament damage! #COYS

I know this is only Burnley and we’re 9th but this really feels like a turning point.
Our fullbacks are back from injury, Dele is back in the mix and Bale is hitting some great form.
Bale could be vital in the Europa 👀

We needed to go on a good run in the league and that’s a great start. Top 4 not a million miles off but we need to see performances like that much more consistently first. Enjoy your Sunday! #COYS

Great performance today. Tempo, movement and desire. Great to see Bale buzzing today and Sanchez was great at the back.

If Bale is properly back, with him, Son and Kane, we can dream bigger than the position we find ourselves in the league. Top 4 big. Come on you Spurs.

After all that us Spurs fans go through week in week out, we really deserve to see performances like these sometimes.
Absolutely brilliant from back to front.

Bale man of the match obviously but Sanchez deserves a special mention. Headed everything away that came into the box and put in some good defensive work.
Him and Toby every important game from now until the end of the season. No chopping / changing.

Bale has that fear factor back. Showing for the ball and dictating games more.
Looking like his old self. Playing like the 4x Champions League winner that he is.
If he keeps this form up, we need to do everything we can to keep him next season. Waited so long for this.

3 points, clean sheet (100th for Hugo in the Premier League) and great to see Bale back in the fold with a man of the match performance.
Shout out to Sanchez for a good performance from him.
On we go. #coys

Spurs Web Opinion
I believe that result has been coming for a few weeks as our performances have not been as bad as results suggest. Having Bale back in this type of form at the business end of the season is a massive boost and a top-four finish is still well within our grasp particularly given the topsy-turvy nature of the season.
