Two clubs are keen on Bryan Gil with a potential buy-option – Fabrizio Romano

According to Fabrizio Romano, both Fiorentina and Feyenoord are interested in signing Bryan Gil this month, but neither side have made an official approach and the Spurs man remains focused on his role under Ange Postecoglou right now.

Since joining Spurs in the summer of 2021, Bryan Gil failed to complete a full season in North London. In his first year, he was loaned to Valencia in January, and last January he was sent back to his former club, Sevilla, for a six-month loan move.

The 22-year-old has featured a little more regularly under Ange Postecoglou this season, with nine appearances in all competitions for Spurs (Transfermarkt).

Despite this, Gil has struggled to assert himself in the Premier League, with many criticising his lack of physicality as a reason for his lack of opportunities. Journalist Josh Hughes recently told Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel that Gil is not suited to the English game.

Is Bryan Gil leaving Spurs this month?

There is a very good chance, then, that Gil will be moved on for the third winter window in a row. And, if Spurs do opt to let him go, there are at least a couple of sides keen to sign him.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who first revealed Fiorentina and Feyenoord are tracking the Spaniard with a view to securing a loan move with a “potential buy option clause to be discussed.” Romano tweeted: “It will be up to Spurs, decision in the next days.”

The transfer expert has since clarified further, stating: “Two important points to clarify about Bryan Gil future. Despite interest from Feyenoord and Fiorentina as they both approached Tottenham, there’s still NO contact on player side.

“Bryan Gil, 100% focused on Spurs and not close to leaving the club as things stand.”
