Two Tottenham fans arrested during West Ham defeat claims Met police officer

An officer from the Metropolitan Police has confirmed that two Tottenham fans were arrested during the club’s defeat to West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday (as relayed by Football London).

The pair were detained for ‘violent disorder’ after a large scuffle broke out between both sets of fans on the stadium’s concourse at half-time during the Premier League fixture.

The Met also stated they will be reviewing the various footage shot of the incident to determine whether further action should be taken against both clubs.

Videos shared online showed supporters breaking through a separating door at half-time, before punches were thrown and plastic cups of beer were launched between both sets of fans.

Stewards present at the scene were initially outnumbered and overpowered by the large gathering but eventually managed to intervene and separate the groups.

The brawl comes after West Ham were recently handed a €60,000 (£50,567) fine from UEFA after the club’s fans clashed with visiting Rapid Vienna supporters during last month’s Europa League fixture.

You feel as if the stewards and security were not prepared enough for this incident, given the history between both sets of fans. It is likely that the police will find evidence for more arrests from both sides once they review Sunday’s footage on the concourse.
