Two Tottenham men make Robbie Savage’s team of the season with Liverpool and Man City players dominating

With the first international break of 2019 under way, it is the perfect time to assess the Premier League campaign and player performances with Robbie Savage naming his team of the season for The Mirror with eight games to go.

Liverpool and Man City dominate the eleven with two players from Tottenham and one from Manchester United completing the starting XI.

When it comes to talking about Tottenham stars the names of Harry Kane and Dele Alli are first to come to mind but there is no space for either of the duo in Savage’s team.

Instead, Savage included Son Heung-Min and Jan Vertonghen after the two have had stellar campaigns.

Jan Vertonghen makes the cut after being a rock at the back for Tottenham in the Premier League, whilst Son has been the main man in front of goal and stepping up when Harry Kane has been absent.

The rest of the team is made up of Liverpool goalkeeper Allison who is joined by defensive teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson.

Fernandinho and Paul Pogba make up the midfield with the attack being filled with Raheen Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Son behind Man City’s Sergio Aguero upfront.
