Two Tottenham players make it into WhoScored’s PL Team of the Season so far

Son Heung-min and Cristian Romero have both made it into WhoScored’s Premier League Team of the Season so far.

Son was coming into the campaign on the back of what was arguably his poorest season in a Tottenham shirt in 2022-23, with the South Korean looking a shadow of his usual self.

However, any questions of a potential decline have been put to bed by the 31-year-old this term, with the forward having found the back of the net 14 times and provided eight assists in 25 league appearances so far (Transfermarkt).

His contribution from a leadership standpoint has also been quite significant, with Son leading by example as well as vocally since being handed the captain’s armband by Ange Postecoglou.

Son and Romero are in the Team of the Season so far

WhoScored gave the experienced Spurs star a rating of 7.4, naming him alongside Erling Haaland upfront in their Team of the Season.

Son is joined in the side by his Tottenham teammate Cristian Romero, who has also had a bit of a redemption ark following his struggles for much of last season.

The Argentine has formed a formidable partnership at the back with Micky van de Ven and has been handed a rating of 7.12, partnering Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk at the back in WhoScored’s Team of the Season.

Guglielmo Vicario is quite unfortunate to miss out, given just how many times he has saved Tottenham throughout the season while Pedro Porro will also feel he has a case to make the side ahead of Kieran Trippier. Micky van de Ven could well have also made it into the side had he not missed as many matches as he has through injury.
