Two Tottenham stars could make comebacks against Leeds, but do Spurs need them right now?

Roberto De Zerbi may receive a couple of big injury boosts ahead of Tottenham’s clash against Leeds United on Monday night.

Back-to-back away wins over Wolves and Aston Villa have taken Tottenham out of the bottom three for the first time in a while.

Spurs are now big favourites to stay up, according to Opta’s Supercomputer, but Roberto De Zerbi will be aware that the job is not yet done.

With league leaders Arsenal playing West Ham on Sunday, Spurs could have an opportunity to open up a four-point gap on the Hammers with a win over Leeds on Monday.

Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison could return for Tottenham against Leeds

The Evening Standard has now revealed that Guglielmo Vicario could be available for selection against Leeds after sitting out the first four games under De Zerbi.

The Italian goalkeeper has been recovering after a hernia operation, with Antonin Kinsky impressing in his absence, but the 29-year-old could be in line to return to the starting eleven.

Additionally, it is suggested that James Maddison could also be set to feature against Daniel Farke’s side, after being an unused substitute in Tottenham’s last three games.

The pair are both part of Spurs’ leadership group, and their return would thus add a lot to the Lilywhites as they fight to avoid relegation.

Doubts regarding the availability of the Spurs striker

Roberto De Zerbi made it clear that neither Van de Ven nor Bentancur suffered any injuries against Villa, and The Standard now confirms that the centre-back and the midfielder are fit to feature against Leeds.

However, the outlet reveals that there is still some uncertainty over the return date of Dominic Solanke, who remains a doubt for Monday’s clash.

The report suggests, however, that Cristian Romero is not expected to be fit until June, and we could thus have seen the last of the Tottenham captain this season.

None of Ben Davies, Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus, Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons will play again this season, with many of them nursing long-term injuries.
