Destiny Udogie has just put pen to paper on a bumper new deal with Tottenham Hotspur, and both James Maddison and Pedro Porro had a little joke about the influx of wealth the youngster is set to receive.
It’s safe to say Destiny Udogie has made quite the impact since he arrived in North London this summer. Fresh off the back of a loan spell with his former club Udinese, the young Italian staked a claim in Ange Postecoglou‘s starting lineup and does not look like relinquishing that any time soon.
After scoring his first goal for the club at the weekend in the 4-1 win over Newcastle, it emerged that Udogie would be rewarded with a new contract (The Athletic). It seems the club has been intent to lock the youngster in and keep any rival clubs at bay.
Spurs teammates have their say on Udogie contract
The club confirmed on Tuesday that Udogie had indeed signed a new deal, which will keep him at Spurs until 2030. According to Italian outlet CalcioMercato, Udogie will reportedly now earn €2 million per year (£1.7 million per year) after increasing his wages significantly.
With Udogie sharing the good news regarding his new contract on Instagram, it didn’t take long for his teammates to get stuck into the comments section with some light-hearted banter and words of support for the 21-year-old.
James Maddison commented: “Fully deserved brother. Don’t spend it all at once.” Meanwhile, Pedro Porro said: “You can pay for dinner one day.”

Maddison is right, this new deal is fully deserved, and it’s a very shrewd move by Spurs to tie Destiny Udogie down to such a long contract. Even if a club like Real Madrid did ever come sniffing now, we’ve got a brilliant buffer which will bump up his value dramatically.
