‘Two very different people’ – Ndombele compares Nuno and Mourinho at Spurs

Tanguy Ndombele has claimed that Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo are completely different personalities, admitting the current Tottenham boss is much more reserved than the former.

Ndombele and Mourinho had their fair share of differences during the Portuguese coach’s time in North London.

The 58-year-old publicly called out the Frenchman for his poor work rate and reports alleged that the pair did not see eye-to-eye at one point.

However, they eventually seemed to put their differences behind them as the former Lyon man became a fixture in Mourinho’s starting eleven last season.

Nuno too did not take to Ndombele immediately after arriving in the summer as the former Wolves boss left the 24-year-old out of the matchday squad for his first few games in charge.

However, the midfielder has been able to force himself into the starting eleven in recent weeks, operating in a similar number ten role that he did under Mourinho.

When asked about his current and former head coach, Ndombele told The Telegraph: “Jose Mourinho is someone who has a hard style of management, but he’s always about the club.

“Nuno is a really nice guy but he’s a bit quieter and keeps himself to himself. They’re two very different people.”

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that Nuno and Mourinho are two completely different personalities. I also do not think their footballing philosophies are as similar as people seem to think.

Despite our inability to create too many chances in games this season, one can see that Nuno’s blueprint is more about controlling possession and slow build-up. Only time will tell if it will prove successful or not.
