‘Type of player Watford would sign’ – Some fans react to potential midfielder deal

According to The Telegraph, it was Antonio Conte who recommended to the Tottenham hierarchy to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Sky Sport Italia reported yesterday that Spurs had identified Amrabat as a replacement for Tanguy Ndombele should the French international complete a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

It has subsequently been revealed by some sources that the Lilywhites have reached an agreement with Fiorentina to sign the Moroccan international on an initial loan deal, with an option to make it permanent for £12.5m (Viola News).

The news regarding Tottenham’s pursuit of the Fiorentina star has been well received by some Spurs fans on social media, who are quite underwhelmed by the prospect of the 25-year-old arriving at the club.

Here’s how some of them reacted to the rumour:

However, The Telegraph have now revealed that it is Conte, who has personally asked for Amarbat to be brought in as Ndombele’s replacement.

The report claims that the Tottenham head coach is a ‘fan’ of the Moroccan international and believes he could add ‘bite’ to the Spurs midfield.

Spurs Web Opinion

Amrabat is certainly not a glamorous name he has flattered to deceive since his move to Fiorentina. However, I am pretty sure that most Spurs fans who are up in arms over the Moroccan’s signing, would likely have not watched him play more than a few times, if ever.

Amrabat is likely coming in as a squad player and a temporary stopgap until the summer. I am willing to trust Conte’s judgement and give the 25-year-old a chance if the deal does go through.
