“Un-be-lie-va-ble” – Alderweireld shares his thoughts on the new Spurs stadium

Tottenham have had a great start to life at their new stadium as they have won all of their first three games at the venue, and are yet to concede a goal at the stadium.

The fans and the former players who have been to the stadium have been left mightily impressed by it, with many claiming that it is one of the best stadiums in the world. It looks like Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld certainly agrees with that assessment.

Speaking to Kristof Terreur, a journalist who works for Belgian publication Het Laatste Nieuws, the 30-year-old has insisted that Tottenham’s new 62,062 capacity seater stadium cannot be compared to any stadium in the world.

Terreur quoted Alderweired as saying, “You have lots of beautiful stadiums in the world. But have you been to our stadium yet? It is un-be-lie-va-ble.

“Unseen. Unseen. Definitely under the lights, as they say, it can be very special.”

The Belgian also talked about the dramatic manner in which Spurs overcame Man City, and insisted that it will take a few years for the players to realise what they achieved.

“We created a moment that a Spurs fan will never forget. Maybe in a few years, we will realise how special this moment really was”, he said.

He also opened up about the prospects of facing his former club Ajax in the semifinals and revealed that he has been following their Champions League exploits closely.

He added, “I am so happy that we are playing against Ajax. It’s going to be so special.

“Some of the lads wanted to watch Barca – United, but we didn’t agree. We preferred Juve-Ajax.

“After the 1-1 I went to my room – early night. But then I heard Michel Vorm screaming like a fool. I checked the live score. Ajax had beaten Juve, can you believe it?”

Spurs fans will be hoping that the club can finally get Alderweireld to commit to a new contract, otherwise, he is highly likely to leave the club this summer for just £25million.
