Unai Emery makes laughable Arsenal admission

Tottenham Hotspur became the first ever Premier League side not to make a single summer signing this season.

However, it looks as if their North London rivals may be following suit this winter, after Unai Emery made a stunning, but laughable admission in his press conference yesterday.

Emery claimed that Arsenal are unable to sign any players this transfer window, as they don’t have the funds for a single fresh face (The Sun).

Instead, the club will have to rely on getting some players in on loan to ad to the squad.

Comparisons have been made between Tottenham and Arsenal of late, as many have warned that Spurs’ new stadium would hamper their transfer budgets for the foreseeable future.

Everyone knows that the new Emirates Stadium left Arsenal with little spending power for a number of years, but it appears this isn’t over yet for the Gunners.

Tottenham are still building their stadium, and could outspend their North London rivals this January anyway.

Emery said (The Sun): “We can’t pay for anyone. We can only sign loan players.

“I know the club is working on the possibility of bringing in a player who can help us now with big performances.

“But I can’t say any more than that. I have no news about the recruitment situation.”
