‘Underwent a scan’ – Dan Kilpatrick reveals Spurs’ concern player could be out for around three weeks

There are concerns that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur could be sidelined for around three weeks in what would be a huge blow to the club.

The former Juventus player was named in Antonio Conte’s starting eleven for Wednesday night’s Premier League clash against Burnley and slipped awkwardly on the wet Turf Moor pitch during the first half and was seen holding his thigh.

The Uruguay international had to be replaced at half time by Harry Winks with Spurs going on to lose the match 1-0 due to a late Ben Mee header.

The Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick has taken to Twitter to confirm that the 24-year-old has undergone a scan on the injury which has led to concerns that he will not be available for selection in the coming weeks.

Tottenham are already short of midfield options having seen Dele Alli leave on a permanent deal to Everton in January, while Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso also headed out on loan until the end of the campaign.
