Tottenham Hotspur have finally announced the date for their stadium grand opening, with the game to be played against Crystal Palace on April 3.
That’s only a couple of weeks away, meaning that Spurs will have to get a shift on with their two test events.
Luckily the club have already scheduled an under 18s match to kick off the new ground, as well as a legends game with a slightly bigger crowd to follow.
There have already been some big names released for the legends game, including Robbie Keane, Dimitar Berbatov, Jermaine Jenas, Rafa Van der Vaart, and more.
However, one man who seems to have been overlooked is a player who literally left his mark on the club during his playing career.
Paul Gascoigne, famed for shooting an air rifle at the iconic golden cockerel and denting it, was left uninvited for the event.
However, that hasn’t stopped him from putting his name in the ring.
He tweeted:
Not sure but I spoke2my manager shane Whitfield&said y am I getting all these tweets about a LEGENDS game at spurs new stadium a week come Saturday?he said he’s not sure?oh an hr ago I got a ball out lit up a floodlit pitch&if there’s a game at spurs im up 4 it ❤️from GAZZAx pic.twitter.com/8KR2EluMFi
