United chasing Trippier

According to The Express Manchester United want to sign Tottenham star Kieran Trippier this summer.

The England right-back has been arguably England’s best player at the World Cup in Russia, with Gareth Southgate’s men progressing to the semi-finals.

Trippier faces probably the biggest match of his career as he will face Croatia tomorrow night as the Three Lions look to book their place in the World Cup final.

He impressed under Mauricio Pochettino last season following Kyle Walker’s departure to Manchester City and regularly kept Walker’s replacement Serge Aurier out of the team.

And the bookies reckon Trippier is likely to join United this summer, with the Red Devils the 5/2 favourites to sign the 27-year-old with Alex Apati of Ladbrokes saying: “Trippier’s England heroics look to have excited plenty of European heavyweights and the betting suggests up to five clubs could be tempted into making a move for the Spurs man this summer.”

Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are also in the running, priced at 4/1 and 5/1 respectively while United will look to sign Trippier this summer, making him Jose Mourinho’s fourth signing.

However Spurs and Mauricio Pochettino would be loathe to lose him and in all likelihood it would likely take a fee along the lines of what Liverpool paid for Virgil before Spurs would even consider.  Seems way off the mark this one
