United looking for cut-price January deal for Spurs star

All the talk through the summer was of the future of Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld.

The Belgian has under a year left on his contract, and shows no signs of signing a new deal.

Alderweireld was linked with a move to Manchester United in the last transfer window (ESPN), but come the start of the season he was still a  Spurs man, and has put in some great performances this campaign.

Tottenham were also said to be interested in one of United’s stars Anthony Martial, but no swap deal was made (Express).

According to an Evening Standard report, Jose Mourinho made the trip to Brussels this week to watch Belgium beat Iceland.

This may seem rather strange, as United’s pair of Fellaini and Lukaku were absent through injury.

Could the Manchester boss have been scouting Toby ahead of the January transfer window?

Alderweireld will be available for £25m come the summer, as per a contract clause, so United could eye a cut price deal in January.
