Tottenham are being linked with Leroy Sane but there is a big update on his future

There has been an update on the possibility of Leroy Sane signing a new contract at Bayern Munich as Tottenham Hotspur continue to circle over the winger along with several other Premier League clubs.

Sane has been one of the best wingers across Europe over the last decade, regularly terrorising defences with his pace and directness.

However, it appears that German’s time at Bayern may be about to come to a close at the end of the season as his current deal runs out in June.

It was reported last month that Tottenham are ‘in a strong position’ to beat Barcelona and other suitors to Sane’s signature.

Just a few days ago, it was revealed that Leroy Sane has been offered to Spurs and other Premier League clubs as he edges closer to becoming a free agent.

Big update on Leroy Sane’s contract as Arsenal enter race

Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has now taken to social media to reveal that new talks are scheduled to be held between the winger’s camp and Bayern regarding a new deal later this month.

He explains that Sane’s priority remains signing a new deal at the Allianz Arena for the time being rather than seeking a transfer.

Plettenberg adds that Arsenal have now asked for information about the former Man City man but makes it clear that the 29-year-old is not considering a move to Saudi Arabia.

Tottenham need to win the Europa League to compete for Sane

It is difficult to see Sane greenlighting a switch to a team who are not in the Champions League, which is why Tottenham Hotspur would have to win the Europa League to have any chance of signing the Bayern man.

Besides, the pacy winger is not the right age profile for the Lilywhites, who have preferred signing younger, up-and-coming players with a high resale value under Johan Lange and Ange Postecoglou.
