After Tottenham Hotspur confirmed that Lucas Bergvall is expected to be ruled out for the rest of the season, a report from Sweden has now provided a time frame for when the midfielder could be back from his injury.
The timing of Bergvall’s injury could not be any worse, coming just a day after he had signed a new six-year deal with Tottenham and just before the first leg of the Europa League semifinal against Bodo/Glimt.
It would have undoubtedly been the biggest game of the 19-year-old’s career so far, but he was forced to watch from the sidelines.
There were immediate concerns among Spurs fans when Bergvall was seen on crutches and wearing a protective boot, and their worst fears were confirmed earlier today.

When will Bergvall be back for Tottenham?
A few hours ago, Ange Postecoglou confirmed that Bergvall is unlikely to feature again this season.
The Tottenham head coach explained that the midfielder had tweaked the ligaments on his ankle, which gave way just as he was about to turn on the ball during training.
FotbollDirekt have now revealed that the estimated time for recovery for Bergvall is “at least eight weeks”.
That means that the teenager may potentially find himself in a race against time to be fit for the start of pre-season in July, although it sounds like he is likely to be back in time for the club’s pre-season tour to Asia later in the same month.

This injury will be difficult to swallow for Lucas Bergvall
The Swede will be heartbroken to miss a potential final, with Tottenham Hotspur now being well-placed to get to the showpiece event in San Mames on May 21.
Bergvall would have been guaranteed to start what would have been the first major final of his career and it comes as a bitter blow to miss out after all the hard work he has put in over the season to force himself into the starting eleven.
The teenager might have already played his last game for Postecoglou, with reports indicating that a managerial change is likely at Tottenham this summer, no matter what happens in the Europa League.
