Valencia are now reported to be the front-runners to sign Russian forward Roman Pavlyuchenko.
Pavlyuchenko has grown frustrated with a lack of first-team opportunities and has been linked with a move away in January in order to boost his international prospects.
AC Milan had been linked, as well as Birmingham City and a return to Russia with Zenit St Petersburg or Spartak Moscow.
But the Sunday Mirror has claimed that Valencia are leading the chase for his signiture now.
Valencia have run up massive debts and may need to sell on star forward David Villa, with Pavlyuchenko to be brought in to fill that gap.
Spurs are unlikely to settle for anything less than the £13million they paid for him.
