Valencia manager talks about prospect of Bryan Gil returning to the club from Spurs

Valencia manager Jose Bordalas has admitted he would welcome the prospect of singing Bryan Gil permanently from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

Gil, who struggled to get game time at Tottenham in the first half of last season, has thrived since sealing a loan move to Valencia on transfer deadline day.

Reports in Spain claimed last month that Valencia have been so impressed by the youngster that they are already keen to open talks with Spurs overextending his loan into next season (Cadena SER).

However, Tottenham are thought to be hopeful that Gil has a future in North London and expect him to return to the club in the summer (Evening Standard).

After Gil put in another impressive display last week to help Valencia book a place in the Copa del Ray final at the expense of Athletic Bilbao, some Los Che fans chanted for him to remain with the club (The Spanish football podcast).

However, Bordalas has now admitted that signing the 21-year-old will not be easy, given that there is no permanent option in the loan deal.

When asked about the impact of Gil and Hugo Duro, who is on loan from Getafe, the Valencia boss told Mercantil Valenciano: “They are two players who have arrived and are contributing a lot to us.

“Right now we are focused on the current season and we don’t think beyond the day to day.

“We know the difficulty and we know that it will be more difficult with Bryan because he does not have a purchase option. With Hugo there is. They would undoubtedly be welcome to continue.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Spurs would want to cash in on Gil in the summer as the youngster evidently has a lot of potential. If Conte does not think the 21-year-old is ready to be a regular at Tottenham, I would like to see the winger being loaned out to a Premier League club so that he can get used to the demands of English football.
