Van der Vaart is central to AVB’s plans

Andre Villas-Boas has made it his priority to keep Rafael van der Vaart at Tottenham.

The Dutch midfielder has been heavily linked with a return to Hamburg with Schalke also keen, but AVB is determined to keep him at the Lane.

Rafa has admitted previously of how much he enjoyed his time in Germany but the new Spurs boss has big plans for the player.

AVB told the Daily Star on Sunday: “At the moment I am absolutely counting on him. I want him here. I have plans for him.

“He’s in a totally different situation to Luka who has been chased by different clubs in the last two seasons.

“We have to make sure the club’s interests are met. If Luka stays, he adds to the squad but it’s extremely difficult because we understand the player’s interest to move on.”

  1. This is the second statement since AVB arrived in Leveys shock decision to sack Harry a of a premiership and install a failed reject and Martins and Freund. The incredible thing is none of them has any idea what a full season is like in charge of a premiership club with high ambitions. Let me enlighten you what AVB does not yet no after Christmas thing start to get desperate and points a twice has hard to get and the fault is fear of the sack and footballer fear of losing high bonuses. The fact Wigan beat Liverpool Arsenal both away Newcastle Utd and should have beat Chelsea to beat the drop shows how hard Avb task will be and the fault is all down to the FA and UKAD who have the job of policing these shock results and i no they have failed. During this last few seasons highlighted by despatches who echoed the same concerns i have been documenting for a while. What has happened to football work rate in some games doubles twofold and the better team can find the space to play limited and if you have the passing skills of Barca or Spain then you will have a very hard job getting the ball and keeping it. If these teams score first then you can find 8 or 9 defenders in the box . This way of playing would normally mean after 70 or 80 mins teams would tire and the better team would win now this tiredness has gone from some desperate teams this is shown in the massive weight loss on the gaunt looking players who can end up with serious illness. So if AVB looks at both teams with his suppose technical knowledge after Christmas he will be in for a big shock followed by the sack.

  2. where did you learn to write? that was IMPOSSIBLE to read, but what what I think you were saying is that AVB has no experience of a full prem season, well, neither do you. support your team.

  3. What a load of s**t !!!

Redknapp failed 2 seasons on a trot to stop his team go on a 13 game shocker on the run in of both seasons all cause he is too tactical inept to rotate his squad throughout the season so they are all ran ragged on the run in.

A decent manager would av ad spurs 3rd the last 2 seasons instead of 5th and 4th.

10pts and in the title race was a true tally of where that team shud av been and stayed.
