Van der Vaart worry for Spurs

Rafael van der Vaart - Tottenham Hotspur news

Tottenham Hotspur could be set for a huge injury blow with the news that Rafael van der Vaart has a hamstring problem.

The Dutch international suffered the injury in the 0-0 draw with Switzerland and will definitely miss their next friendly against Germany in midweek.

Rafa is known to have problematic hamstrings and could be sidelined from anywhere between 2-6 weeks depending on the scan results.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. This is a shame because he seemed to be at his fittest since we sighned him and was increasingly lasting, and being, at the pace of games.

If Defoe has retained the form he had before VDV made himself undropable we should be alright for this run winable fixtures. This might also give us the chance, when needed, to play two defensive midfielders (Parker and Sandro) with modric in more advanced role.

It's a pitty that BigTom won't be fit for the Chelsea game, because with him at the foot of the midfield with his passing range AND SPEED, we could really destroy Chelsea's slow HIGH backline with our pace. I would go as far to say that our ideal starting line up for that game would be our current back 5, Bale-Hudd-Modric-Sandro-Lennon, Ade.

  2. This will let Spurs fans know what some of us are saying is true or false do Spurs and Ady play better with a 442 system or 4411 or what it really is 451I believe we play better with Defoe and Ady upfront because they cause defences more trouble all the match. . When Van Plays he scored great solo goals and then his work rate slows dramatically to protect his hamstrings.

  3. With Spurs having to play two strikers this will never happen. But, I hope that if Rafa does miss any games that Sandro fills in for him. We have been getting overrun in midfield. Parker is not really fast enough to hold the midfield and having Sandro along side would allow Bale, Modric, and Lennon to attack and move around. Bale and Lennon have been floating more and it has been very effective and producing a number of goals.

  4. Having been riddled with calf pulls/strains for the past 3 years i can sympathise with him but question whether rushing him back all the time is wise. They need at least 4 weeks to properly heal yet they constantly rush him back in a fortnight only for it to go again.Same with Jenas over the Xmas period.

  5. i would play like this.
show the players a picture of an unemployment line with people who have lost hope of ever supporting themselves or family then tell them how lucky they are and to play like fuck because of it. thats not jealousy because I could have made it as a pro and I pissed it all down the tube but what Im saying is this, should 60,000 pound a week footballers need a reason to win.
