Former Shalke player Christoph Metzelder believes that Rafael van der Vaart would be a ‘top replacement’ for Raul.
The veteran Spaniard departed the Veltins Arena at the end of last season to sign for Qatari side Al Sadd for the 2012–13 Qatar Stars League season.
Rafa is often linked back with a move to Germany where his wife Sylvie is a high-profile celebrity and still works in the country. Thankfully Metzelder seems to think that Schalke will look within their own ranks rather than trying to sign the Dutchman.
