Rafael Van der Vaart - Tottenham news

Rafael van der Vaart admitted that he was worried that Tottenham could have lost after he was sent off against FC Twente.

The Dutch midfielder was shown a second yellow card on 60 minutes after a rash challenge while the score was 2-1 to Spurs.

“Of course after the red card it was difficult,” he said on Sky Sports. “I was worried we wouldn’t win the game but in the end the guys played fantastic.

“It was a strange game, also for me. I scored, missed a penalty and was also sent off.”

Van der Vaart will now miss the tough trip to Inter Milan and added: “They are going to win for me,”

  1. He’s very arrogant…..but that’s exactly what we need!

Question is should I buy a ‘Bale’ shirt or a ‘Van der Vaart’ shirt…the Bale shirt would be a lot cheaper!

  2. rafa (along with luka) is the best thing to happen to spurs in years. love that left foot/the arrogance/the brilliance. we have lacked this in midfield for what seems a lifetime…please let him stay injury free!!

  3. He showed great passion. More than any long serving Spurs players along side him. But the 2nd yellow was a silly one. We can't afford to lose players through silly suspensions like this. He needs a lil control. We need all 11 players if were to put in a strong challenge in CL.
