Rafael van der Vaart - Tottenham Hotspur news

Rafael van der Vaart has lavished praise on the performance of Tottenham’s patched-up defence.

Sebastien Bassong and Younes Kaboul were at the heart of the Spurs defence due to injuries to Ledley King, William Gallas and Michael Dawson. VDV may have bagged both goals but he was quick to praise those who play behind him.

Let’s hope for more of the same when we face QPR this weekend!

“When you score you’re always in the headlines, but I think the defenders were amazing. This season they’ve been unbelievable for us,” Van der Vaart told Spurs TV Online.

“It’s my second time here (at Ewood Park), they play with throw-ins, corner kicks and long balls, it’s really difficult to win here. It’s a massive compliment to the boys that we did.”

  1. Last week we led twice against Newcastle but rather than keep possession for the last 15 mins we pushed forward, lost posession and conceded late, ending up with a point when we should have had 3. Against Blackburn we went in front early in the 2nd half and clung on against the bottom team in the league, Yakubu alone had 4 good chances to equalise, our defence ran about like headless chickens and we were extremely lucky to hold out. I hope we don`t have to go through a similar scenario at QPR this week-end but i fear we may.

  2. You could score 5 goals in a game for all i care. I still think Defoe shd start with Ade upfront. We wouldn't have struggled so much. Defoe this season, is backtracking much better too! Our game is too slow when VDV plays!
