‘Very concrete hypotheses’ – Atalanta CEO on future of Pierluigi Gollini

Atalanta CEO, Luca Percassi, has revealed that the club are yet to reach a concrete agreement for the sale of rumoured Tottenham target Pierluigi Gollini.

Gollini has been in fine form between the sticks for Atalanta for the past few years but the Italian international now faces a battle to retain his number one shirt after Gian Piero Gasperini’s side’s acquisition of Juan Musso.

Reports from Italy indicate that Atalanta are ready to cash in on the 26-year-old this summer, with Tottenham showing interest in snapping him up.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold even claimed on Monday that Tottenham were in advanced negotiations to sign the goalkeeper as well as his Atalanta teammate, Cristian Romero.

Sky Sports have since backed up that claim, revealing that the North Londoners are expected to agree a loan deal for the shot-stopper with a £13m option to buy.

However, Percassi has now said that Gollini remains a key player for the Bergamo club, although he did hint that the club have had offers for the goalkeeper.

He said (Gianluca Di Marzio): “There are various hypotheses that we are facing, I only know that Gollini is a very important player for Atalanta, a boy who has allowed us to grow.

“The market then maybe will bring something different, let’s see what happens, but to date, there is nothing definitive but very concrete hypotheses”.

The fact that he mentions ‘concrete hypotheses’ suggests that negotiations between Spurs and Atalanta are pretty far along. The 26-year-old would certainly be a smart acquisition for the North Londoners, particularly if it is a loan deal with an option to buy.
