Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to share their reaction to the team selection for this afternoon’s Premier League match against Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
Since winning back-to-back league games against Crystal Palace and West Brom, Newcastle have won just two of their last 18 Premier League games (D5 L11). The Magpies have picked up fewer points in this period than any other Premier League side (11).
Tottenham won this exact fixture 3-1 under José Mourinho last season. It was the Portuguese manager’s first-ever Premier League away win against Newcastle, having failed to win any of his first seven visits to St James’ Park (D3 L4).
Harry Kane will be looking to continue his impressive campaign having been involved in 43 goals in 40 games in all competitions this season (27 goals, 16 assists), just two short of his best-ever season in his senior career (41 goals and 4 assists in 2017-18).
Mourinho has named an unchanged side from the team which beat Aston Villa, with Gareth Bale and Heung-min Son both among the subs.
Opportunity to join top 4, No Wilson or ASM & they’ve lost 5 of their last 6 games… pls don’t fuck this up @SpursOfficial

How crazy that we can go 4th today. Looking at that Newcastle team and they are awful. But this is spurs.

Great that Rodon and Japhet are playing! Bit disappointed Bale and Son are on the bench but having Lo Celso back is great and at least it means we have quality options on the bench 🙌🏼 #COYS https://t.co/lT4bPWntro

Son, Bale and Dele on the bench. Kane, Vinicius and Moura looking to score a few today. Let’s get this job done, 4th spot beckons #COYS pic.twitter.com/CIojRjgq21
