‘Very happy’ – Fabrizio Romano has heard nothing to suggest Spurs man is leaving

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that he has not heard anything about Liverpool’s rumoured approach for Ange Postecoglou, stating that the Australian is very happy at Tottenham Hotspur.

After Jurgen Klopp announced last month that he would be departing Liverpool at the end of this season, some outlets have suggested that the Reds could turn to Postecoglou to replace the German (The Athletic).

However, since, then various publications have claimed that Tottenham have no fears about losing their head coach as he is ‘loyal’ to the club and ‘excited’ about the work he is doing at Hotspur Way (Football.London).

This was also backed up by Football Insider last week, with the report insisting that Daniel Levy has no plans on letting the 58-year-old go to any Premier League side, given that he has three years left on his deal.

Postecoglou himself dismissed the speculation in his press conference last Friday, pointing out that he has always made it clear that his project at Spurs is a long-term one (Sky Sports).

Ange Postecoglou is staying put at Tottenham

Romano has now said that the Tottenham head coach is quite happy where he is and remains heavily involved in the club’s transfer decisions.

The Italian journalist told CaughtOffside: “Ange Postecoglou put any rumours of him wanting to leave Tottenham to go to Liverpool to bed in his recent press conference, and guys I’ve nothing on Postecoglou and Liverpool so far.

“He’s very happy at Tottenham and I’m not aware of contacts with other clubs. He was also very much involved in talks to convince Lucas Bergvall to join Spurs for example, so it doesn’t look like a worrying situation to me.”

I do not see the perks of leaving the Spurs job and joining Liverpool as Klopp would be an extremely hard act to follow for anyone who takes over at Anfield.

At Tottenham, Ange will get the same resources as he would at Liverpool but has to deal with lower expectations, with the Australian knowing that his legacy would get a huge boost if he can lead Spurs to any piece of silverware.
