‘Very happy’ – Bentancur issues verdict on his first few of months at Spurs

Rodrigo Bentancur says he is ‘very happy’ to have been given the opportunity to play at Tottenham and believes the Premier League is the best place to showcase his talent.

The Uruguay international joined Spurs during the January transfer window alongside former Juventus teammate Dejan Kulusevski.

The pair have had an immediate impact on Antonio Conte’s side with both emerging as regular starters under the Italian.

Bentancur has forged a partnership with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in midfield, with his most recent display helping Spurs secure a crucial three points against fellow European candidates West Ham.

The 24-year-old has since admitted he is pleased with how things are going in North London and feels the regular game time at Spurs is something that will help him get better along the way.

He said, via ESPN Argentina (as translated by SportWitness): “[I’m] very happy and getting minutes.

“It’s the best league at the moment. I’m very happy to play for Tottenham in that league and to be taking this opportunity. [It] is going to help me a lot to keep improving.”

Bentancur has made the starting line-up on seven out of the eight games he has been available under Conte, having missed one match through injury (Transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham will be pleased with what they have seen from Bentancur so far and right now he looks to have been a tidy bit of business.

He gives Spurs a bit more control in the middle with his smoothness in possession, which is something the team has had trouble managing this season.

Hopefully, he is able to continue this form going forward to push Spurs towards a strong end to the season and ultimately, qualification for the Champions League.
