‘Very high probability’ – Sporting director expects Spurs-linked striker to stay

Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat believes that Sasa Kalajdzic is likely to remain at the club next season.

Tottenham have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old Austrian forward with Eurosport claiming that he has been the subject of attention from scouts of the North London side and they were now planning to make an enquiry to assess his potential availability.

Spurs were eyeing the 6ft 5in striker as a back-up for Harry Kane and would likely cost in the region of £15million.

Kalajdzic still has two years left to run on his contract with Mislintat confident he will still be at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

The forward scored 16 goals in 33 appearances in the German top-flight last season helping his side to a ninth-place finish (transfermarkt).

“There is a very, very high probability that Sasa will be our number 9 next season”, Mislintat told the Stuttgarter Nachrichten.

There is no doubt that Tottenham need to recruit another forward this summer to help relieve the goalscoring burden from Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.  It’s clear from past seasons that any striker who wants to play week in, week out is not prepared to make the switch to Spurs due to the presence of Kane.

Kalajdzic is relatively young and could also act as a target man when Spurs need to adapt their style of play.
