‘Very important clubs’ – Rumoured Spurs target’s agent makes transfer admission

The agent of rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Mohamed Simakan has admitted that three La Liga clubs have expressed interest in signing the defender.

Simakan broke into the Strasbourg senior side this season and has shown his versatility at both at right-back and in central defence.

Reports suggest that the teenager’s performances in the Ligue 1 this season have been turning a lot of heads across Europe.

RMC Sport reported last month that Tottenham were one of the sides interested in signing the 19-year-old along with the likes of Everton, Southampton, AC Milan, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund.

The report suggested that the Frenchman could be available for around £13million this summer.

However, it looks like Spurs may have to act fast if they wish to land the defender after Simakan’s agent Badou Sambage has admitted that Real Betis, Sevilla and Valencia have all made approaches for the player.

Sambage told Transfer20: “Simakan had a great season. He has sometimes played as a right-back, although he is a central defender. He has a very good mindset and is a great professional.

“Definitely, La Liga is a championship that appeals to him: It is one of the best championships in the world without a doubt. If you play at Valencia you can do it anywhere. As Betis or Sevilla that you say, they are top clubs.

“I know they have come to see him. Monchi (Sevilla’s director of football) is a specialist in the French market, Valencia and Betis are also very important clubs. But beyond that there is nothing. A lot has happened, some championships have to come back. We will see what happens later.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds like the agent is trying to drum up interest in the defender. While Simakan is still unproven at the top level, his versatility could make him a valuable addition for us as he would be able to provide cover for both right-back and centre-back.
