‘Very soon’ – Alasdair Gold provides positive update on Spurs Lloris contract talks

According to Football.London, Tottenham have opened talks over a new contract for captain Hugo Lloris with a deal to be finalised soon.

The 35-year-old’s deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is due to expire at the end of the season meaning he is free to talk with clubs around Europe about signing a pre-contract agreement.

Spurs manager Antonio Conte has often reiterated his desire to keep Lloris at the club and recently revealed that he is ‘very confident’ the Frenchman will extend his current terms.

Football.London has reiterated those claims, with talks for a new deal are now underway between club and player.

The report states that negotiations will be finalised ‘very soon’, with Spurs said to be more than happy to meet Lloris’ ‘modest’ contract demands.

World Cup winner Lloris joined Spurs from Lyon in 2012 and remains both the first-choice option in goal and the club captain. Since the transfer, he has made 394 appearances for Spurs and is the sole leader for most games played in the Premier League in club history.

This is really good news for Spurs and is one of the best signings the club can make this month. It saves Spurs the big problem of looking for a potential replacement too, with loanee Pierluigi Gollini still struggling to make his mark at the club.
