‘Very strong possibility’ Spurs star will sign for Real Madrid claims expert

Tottenham Hotspur have done extremely well to hang onto their biggest names in recent years, despite a small budget for transfers and salaries.

Spurs pay nowhere near what their top six rivals do in terms of wages, although they have started to increase the packets of their biggest stars.

However, there is very little Spurs can do if a player is unwilling to sign a new deal, which could be the case with midfielder Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen will enter the final year of his contract at the end of this season, and a new deal doesn’t seem to be in the works.

This means that Spurs will likely have to sell the player in the summer to get some kind of money for him, or risk losing him on a free in 2020.

European football commentator Kevin Hatchard told talkSPORT that there is a string possibility Eriksen will sign for Real Madrid.

He said (talkSPORT): “The Eriksen thing is interesting because, while there has been talk about it for a long time, he hasn’t signed a new contract at Spurs.

“The feeling in Spain is that there is a very strong possibility Real Madrid will be able to get that deal done.

“The feeling in Spain is that there’s a strong possibility they’ll get Eriksen.”
