‘Very talented player’ – Former Arsenal player heaps praise on Spurs’ Bryan Gil

Former Arsenal forward Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Bryan Gil, claiming he is a ‘very, very talented player’.

Tottenham Hotspur confirmed the signing of Gil on July 26, prising the winger away from Sevilla for £21.4m with eight-year servant Erik Lamela heading the other way to Spain (The Guardian).

Gil has still not entered into pre-season, or Hotspur Way for that matter, as he is representing Spain at the Olympics; he will meet up with the squad when the games have concluded.

The talented youngster impressed out on loan at SD Eibar last season, playing 28 times in La Liga and scoring four goals while grabbing three assists.

The 20-year-old has already represented Spain three times but just missed out on a place in the Euro 2020 squad. He has risen through the ranks at youth level for Spain U19s, U21s, and U23s, making a number of appearances for each (Transfermarkt).

La Liga TV pundit Campbell was full of praise for the winger, telling Football Insider: “I have seen a lot of him and he is a really great signing.

“He is young, quick, direct, clever, and will be a real handful in the Premier League. He is still so young so he is only going to get better.

“Last season he was out on loan and impressed. He has good energy and he will keep trying to beat his man.

“I know the Premier League is different but Gil is a very, very talented player. I expect him to do very well for Spurs next season.”

Gil was a signing that no one had a problem with. He seems like a really good talent who is capable of adapting to the Premier League.

It also addressed another problem: getting rid of deadwood. Lamela was past his expiry date. A clever deal all around.
