Veteran keeper denies Spurs rumours

Veteran goalkeeper Wayne Brown has denied speculation that he could join Tottenham Hotspur in a coaching role.

Brown has just left South African outfit Supersport United, who have links with Spurs but looks set to go to Italy.

“I’ve had a great experience playing and coaching in South Africa,” he told skysports.com.

“When the opportunity came up last year I couldn’t turn it down. While I thoroughly enjoyed it, it has been difficult for my family and I, and I felt I needed to be closer to home.

“I’m not sure anyone knows I am available – until your interview obviously!

“I have had initial discussions with clubs in Italy but we will see what happens. I am just going to enjoy my holiday and spend time with my family.

“I can understand why people might link me with Shrewsbury as I had a reasonably successful period working with Graham Turner and getting promoted to League One at Hereford.

“I was nearly part of it with Bury as well but we just lost out in the semis to Shrewsbury and I am absolutely thrilled for all at the club that they have done it this year.

“However, there has been no contact with any club yet. I’ve only been back two days and am looking forward to spending time with my family first and foremost.”
