Vicario reveals what he said to Sessegnon during argument after FA Cup win

After Spurs defeated Burnley in the FA Cup third round earlier this month, Guglielmo Vicario was seen having a rather animated exchange with his Tottenham teammate, Ryan Sessegnon. Now, the Italian has explained what was going on during the interaction.

Since arriving in North London in the summer, Guglielmo Vicario has earned the adoration of the Tottenham Hotspur faithful for his highly passionate, and very impressive displays between the sticks.

Replacing former number one, Hugo Lloris, was never going to be easy, but Vicario has quickly established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

He has also established himself as a key figure in Ange Postecoglou‘s side, and a real leader both on and off the pitch.

What did Vicario say to Sessegnon after the Burnley game?

When Spurs secured their place in the FA Cup fourth round with a tight 1-0 victory over Burnley recently, you’d be forgiven for thinking the players would celebrate at full time. Not Vicario, though.

No, the Italian stopper was more concerned with having an intense discussion with Ryan Sessegnon. In an interview with the Telegraph, Vicario has revealed what was said.

He said: “Maybe it was not the best thing to do. If you have to say something, the right way is to do it in the dressing room. It was just about the structure we had in the set pieces, we were not set well.

“I was angry because it was the last ball and they had a good chance. I can’t put the blame on Sess, of course. It’s just to keep your attention high. So it’s about mentality and just not wanting to concede.”

You have to admire the passion and the honesty Vicario offers. He demands perfection, and understands that any mistake can be costly, and he clearly wants the whole team to improve around him.
