Victor Wanyama has insisted that Ange Postecoglou’s first season at Tottenham Hotspur was relatively successful and backed his former side to be a much more formidable force in the campaign ahead.

The way the season ended has left a bit of a sour taste in the mouths of some Spurs fans, with the side struggling to pick up wins over the last couple of months and in the end, failing to qualify for the Champions League.
However, looking back at the state of the club when Ange Postecoglou took over last summer, combined with the fact that they lost Harry Kane, it can still be argued that the Australian has made a decent start to his tenure at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Wanyama, who has been closely following his former side from Canada, pointed out that they found it difficult to get any sort of rhythm after the injury crisis they had mid-season.
The CF Montreal midfielder told Responsible Gambling: “Wow, they started the season absolutely on fire and all in all I think they had a great campaign. Obviously, they had injuries and what that meant was that they just did not have the same momentum when they got players back.”

Victor Wanyama is predicting a bright future for Tottenham
The Kenyan insisted that there is still a lot of optimism around the project at Hotspur Way and backed the Lilywhites to improve next season if they can make some smart additions this summer.
He added: “Obviously, as you’ll know, some of the guys I have played with are there like Sonny (Heung-min Son) and he says so many nice things about the manager and the group so I have a feeling that even next season will be better.
“They just have to build on the gains of this season and then go on to add a few players and they will be fine.”

The difficult end to the season has certainly not completely dampened the optimism around the Postecoglou project but it has served as a reality check to everyone at the club as well as the supporters.
It is now crucial that we start next season well as some poor results at the start of the next campaign will lead to major doubts creeping into the players’ minds about our current system and approach.
