Victor Wanyama has told Southampton he is unhappy and wants to leave, with the midfielder refusing to discuss a new contract.
Tottenham are said to be keen to sign the 24-year-old but Saints boss Ronald Koeman this week said he was not for sale.
He has two years left on his contract after signing from Celtic for £12.5million in 2013 and Southampton now value him at around £18m. The Kenya international is said to have insisted that he made it clear his future lies away from St Mary’s during recent talks with club officials.
Wanyama has been unsettled for some time on the south coast and was further unsettled following a burglary at his home last year which has contributed to him wanting to make a fresh start.
