Video: £21m Spurs player shows off his impressive free-kick on international duty

Bryan Gil has posted a video on social media of him curling a brilliant free-kick into the top corner while training with Spain’s Under-21s.

Since Christian Eriksen’s departure almost three years ago, Spurs have struggled to score from direct free-kicks and there has been much consternation from the fan base at Harry Kane repeatedly either hitting the wall or blasting it over the bar.

There have been calls for Son Heung-min and Eric Dier to take more free-kicks but neither has had much luck for Lilywhites either when given the opportunity.

It turns out that Tottenham might have another useful free-kick taker in their squad in the form of Bryan Gil.

The Spaniard, who moved to north London in a £21million deal from Sevilla (Independent) has been a bit-part player under Antonio Conte but based on his latest social media post, perhaps he has a right to lay claim to set pieces when he is on the pitch.

The 21-year-old posted the following video on his Instagram story:

We have to be careful about jumping to conclusions about Gil’s set-piece ability as the ‘finally’ caption in the video indicates that the winger took a far few free-kicks before finally managing to convert one.
