Video: 24-year-old Spurs player reacts to signing his new Lilywhite contract

Alfie Whiteman was beaming with pride after signing a new deal with Tottenham, admitting that he is ‘living the dream’ at the North London club.

Whiteman joined Spurs at the age of 10 and came through the age group ranks at the club’s academy before making his first team debut as a second-half substitute in the 4-0 Europa League win over Ludogorets in November 2020.

The goalkeeper spent a season and a half on loan at Swedish side Degerfors before returning to the club last summer.

Tottenham announced on Wednesday that the 24-year-old had put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension at N17.

In an interview with the club’s official channel, Whiteman has now opened up on his journey from being a fan to now working with some world-class players at the club.

Whiteman might have an important role to play over the next two months, serving as Fraser Forster’s main understudy.

The 24-year-old’s experience at Degerfors as well as this contract extension will give him the confidence to perform if he does have to step in for a game or two.
