Video – A look back at the last time Spurs faced Borussia Dortmund

Tottenham Hotspur face familiar opponents in the Champions League round if 16 this season, as they take on Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund are flying high in the German League of late, and will be a extremely tough team to defeat over two legs.

You don’t have to think back very far to the last times the two teams met, as they were drawn against each other in the group stage of the competition last season.

In the opening match of the 2017/18 Champions League for both sides, Tottenham ran away to a 3-1 win against the Germans.

An early goal from Heung Min Son, who loves a goal against Dortmund, was pegged back by an 11th minute Yarmolenko screamer.

However, an even game quickly turned in Tottenham’s favour, after Harry Kane almost recreated Son’s opener to make it 2-1.

Kane then added to his tally on the 60 minute mark to secure all three points, although Vertonghen was sent off in added time.

The two sides next faced up in match week five, with Tottenham now looking to top the group after impressive displays against Real Madrid.

However, this challenge would prove tougher, as they faced an away game against Dortmund, and that big yellow wall.

Despite a goal from now-Arsenal man Aubameyang on 31 minutes, Spurs were able to turn the tie around in the second half to claim yet another win.

Goals from Kane and Son again snatched all three points for Spurs, who would go on to top the group ahead of Real Madrid, with Dortmund bumped down into the Europa League.
