Jose Mourinho certainly cut a satisfied figure on the pitch after he watched his side see out a 2-0 victory over Manchester City in North London yesterday evening.

Spurs took the lead early on as Heung-min Son was sent clear by Tanguy Ndombele, with the South Korean squeezing his shot between the legs of an on-rushing Ederson.

The Lilywhites then sat back on their lead and defended for their lives for the vast majority of the game, until one breakaway sent Giovani Lo Celso into the box. The Argentine made no mistake, taking the game beyond City.

Mourinho spoke of team spirit and togetherness in his post-match interview, claiming that Spurs were now a team that could make the fans proud.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. I have to say the performance against Manchester City was on a profound level.

Let’s not get carried away its still early in the season. But that was the best offensive display I have seen Spurs execute.

If Spurs keep their defensive shape they will win four trophies this season. Jose has Spurs playing the right way as a team.

I cannot see the next game against Chelsea going any
different. We have a powerful squad.
