The new Tottenham Hotspur stadium features a world first pitch growing lighting system.
The innovative feature means that with the integrated system, Tottenham’s groundskeeping team can wheel it in from underneath the North Stand, then lift it onto rails mounted permanently on the east and west pitch trays, which will seamlessly roll from one end of the pitch to the other.
The technology was developed by the club alongside Stadium Grow Lighting (SGL), engineering specialist SCX and Hewitt Sportsturf. It enables the grow lights to cover the entirety of the pitch without the physical structure impacting on the grass surface.
In addition, the structure is fitted with an irrigation system, from which the pitch can be watered from above while the units are providing light to the pitch.
