Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Alfie Devine has found the back of the net in impressive fashion for England U19s this evening.
Devine was named in Ian Foster’s starting eleven for the Three Lions UEFA European Under-19 Championship opener against Austria.
The 17-year-old got himself on the scoresheet in the 65th minute of the match when he linked up well with Aston Villa’s Carney Chukwuemeka, before blasting the ball high into the roof of the net.
Devine’s Tottenham team-mate Dane Scarlett played a part in England’s opener two minutes before half time when he squared the ball back into the path of Chukwuemeka to fire home.
England will also face Serbia and Israel as part of their Group B campaign.

Despite his relatively young age, Devine needs to head out on loan next season to get regular first-team football at senior level.
He is more than capable of playing at Championship or League One level, which will be far more beneficial than turning out for Spurs’ Premier League 2 side.
