Video: Andros Townsend has his say on Gareth Bale return and ‘hero status’ at Spurs

Gareth Bale’s return to Spurs now looks inevitable as the Welshman was seen arriving at Hotspur Way today before finalising his return to the club at which he made his name.

Reports indicate that the 31-year-old will arrive on a season-long loan deal, with Tottenham having the option to extend it by another year (Football.London).

One person who is delighted to see Bale back at his old stomping ground is his former Spurs teammate Andros Townsend.

The Crystal Palace winger admitted he is happy to see the four-time Champions League winner return to a club where he is appreciated, while Palace boss Roy Hodgson admitted that his arrival would be a boost to the Premier League.

Spurs Web Opinion

Bale has always struck me as the kind of player who needs to feel valued and appreciated to perform at his best. It was no coincidence that he came into his own during his final season at Spurs when Andre Villas-Boas decided to build the team around him. Hopefully, being back at familiar surroundings and playing for fans who adore him, will help the Welshman produce his best form again.
