Arsenal defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira left Heung-min Son in a crumpled heap following a nasty challenge while on international duty.

Son was appearing for South Korea in a fixture against Uruguay in Seoul which saw the Tottenham man come out on top with a 2-1 victory.

The incident came when Torreira went to ground to win the ball with a sliding challenge and followed through at shin height to send Son clutching his right leg and thumping the ground.

Thankfully, Son got back to his feet and managed to play on.  It would have been a huge blow if the 26-year-old had been left injured to compound our current fitness problems.

Son will be in action again on Tuesday against Panama before reporting back from international duty at Hotspur Way ahead of next Saturday’s trip to West Ham.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. International nonsense games are destroying the teams that pay the players. They should all be changed to “over 35” teams with no exceptions. Dele’s injury, Vertongen’s injury and Kane’s preoccupation with some “Captain England” fantasy have really hurt Spurs so far this season. Kane has been on the field for most games but “in the game” about 10-20% of the time. Shame!
