Video: Bale’s former Spurs teammate says he has been treated harshly at Madrid

Reports in the media seem to suggest that Gareth Bale has played his final game for Real Madrid, as Zinedine Zidane has reportedly told the Welshman that he is not part of his plans for next season (Daily Mail).

The pacey forward, who has won four Champions League trophies in his six seasons at the Spanish capital has even been jeered by his own supporters (Sky Sports) and looks to have become surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu.

Bale’s former Spurs teammates David Bentley and Jermaine Jenas both spoke to BBC Radio 5 live Sport about the former Spurs man’s situation and both felt that Bale deserves more respect for what he has achieved.

Meanwhile, former Charlton manager Chris Powell said that he can only see Bale either joining Spurs or Manchester United if he is to return to the Premier League this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Leaving emotions completely out of the equation, it wouldn’t be particularly wise of Tottenham to pay a huge transfer fee for Bale given that other areas of the squad are in more urgent need of improvement.

The only way that the deal could be a good one for Spurs is if it’s a loan deal where Real Madrid continue to pay a sizable portion of his wages.
