Video: Ben Davies reacts to thumping the crossbar from 35-yards in interview

Ben Davies has admitted that beating being able to beat Arsenal and give Spurs fans the bragging rights over their fierce rivals means a lot to the players.

Post-match interviews from footballers are usually indistinguishable from PR-exercises, with most players these days preferring to give diplomatic answers to questions.

That certainly was not the case with Davies, who seemed to speak from his heart after Tottenham edged out Arsenal in the North London Derby on Sunday.

The Wales international praised the grit and determination that the team showed on the day and insisted that there was no lack of desire in the Spurs dressing room.

He also reacted to that screamer of a 35-yard shot in the first-half that clattered against the Arsenal crossbar.

Despite our mixed results since the restart, the players’ commitment cannot be questioned. It is clear that they have all bought into Mourinho’s methods and are trying their hardest on the pitch. The result on Sunday will go a long way towards giving the players confidence that they can get results playing the way that they are. I thought we did not put a foot wrong defensively almost through the entirety of the ninety minutes.
